Restaurant and hotel robots in 2026: what they do and what they cost in the UK

Serving robots such as Pudu's BellaBot and Keenon's DINERBOT T10 carry plates from the pass to the table and bring dirty dishes back. They don't take orders or replace waiting staff. UK suppliers publish rental from about £99 a week or £510 a month, or around £13,000 + VAT to buy outright.
What hospitality robots actually do
- Food running: multi-tray trips from kitchen to table on mapped routes, pausing for people and obstacles.
- Plate clearing: following a set route and collecting dirty dishes, useful at breakfast and buffets.
- Greeting and guiding: leading guests to tables; some models carry advertising screens.
- Room service (hotels): enclosed, lockable compartments for delivering to rooms. Keenon's W3 is one example.
What they don't do: take orders, judge when a table wants attention, or handle stairs without lifts. Suppliers are candid that they're a support tool, not a replacement for people.

Rent or buy?
At Hospitable Automation's published figures, two years of leasing a T10 at £99 a week comes to about £10,300, against £12,995 + VAT to buy. Renting usually bundles maintenance and lets you trial a robot on your own floor first. Buying makes more sense for a busy site that knows the robot will run every service for years. Our rent vs buy guide covers the trade-offs in more depth.
Large floors, a long walk from the pass, banqueting and hotel breakfasts are where a serving robot saves the most steps.
Small, crowded rooms. Hospitable Automation says the T10 can squeeze through 59cm but recommends about 1 metre between tables once chairs and hot dishes are involved. Open trays also aren't suitable for room service.
Before you sign
- Ask for an on-site demo between your actual tables.
- Check the minimum term, what happens at the end, and who pays for repairs.
- Confirm Wi-Fi coverage, charging space and whether it can work with your automatic doors or lift.
- Plan staff training; robots need re-mapping when you change the layout.
